2 377 000 households

The number of private households in Norway amounted to 2 377 000 as of 1 January 2017. An average of 2.2 persons lived in each household.

Fewer young people sanctioned in 2015

In 2015, there were 3 per cent fewer penal sanctions than in the previous year. The decrease in sanctions against young people continues, but persons aged between 15 and 24 are still overrepresented for many types of crimes.

After being in a cyclical downturn for almost three years, growth in the Norwegian economy has picked up. The downturn appears to have bottomed out at the end of last year, but the upturn is a fragile one in that we forecast growth only slightly over trend in the near term.

1 in 10 over 66 has to use stairs to enter their dwelling

81 000 persons over the age of 66 live on the second floor or above without a lift. This is 11 per cent of all the people in the age group.
