If a person is registered as charged with more than one offence during the statistical year, the person will be grouped by principal offence – which is the offence that according to the law can have the most severe penalty. Statistics Norway also publish tables with a large sample of charged persons within each group of offences. These statistics show all persons charged with one or more offences, and not only those charged with one principal offence.
